You Are My Sunshine

THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS
It's summer, and with a high temperature of 107 here last weekend, we are feeling it!  While the insane heat from the sun can feel miserable this time of year, my children are delightful rays of sunshine in my life every day.  I made them this lunch as a way of reminding them of just how special they are!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.  You make me happy, when skies are grey.  You'll never know dear, how much I love you.  Please don't take my sunshine away!
What's in the Box?
Sun - rice colored with turmeric, yellow bell pepper, nori & icing accents
Strawberries, mini grapes, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries
Golden tomatoes, cucumber, black olives, yellow bell pepper
Snap peas, carrots, fresh roasted turkey

  9. Oh so vibrant, bright n cheery! :) May I know how do u colour the rice with turmeric? Portion to amount of rice? Add when rice is warm or cool? Does it have any taste or smell? My boy is not into spices :( thank you.

    1. Thank you for your comment! I don't have a specific measurement, but I actually add the turmeric to the water before the rice is cooked. I just add a teaspoon or two to the water before I steam it. You could do the same amount in the water if you are boiling it. It does have a flavor, but it isn't super strong. The more of the spice you use, the stronger it will obviously be. A little goes a very long way regarding the color, so you might just try it out sometime with maybe 1 teaspoon to see if you like the color and he will eat it. Best of luck!
