Rock the Lunchbox

I am very excited to be teaming up with Honest Kids, Annie's Homegrown, Organic Valley & Stonyfield YoKids in their Rock the Lunchbox Back to School program.  Believe it or not, the start of school is only a few weeks away for most of us.  One of the more challenging aspects of school time for many parents is providing their children with healthy lunches that their kids actually want to eat.  The Rock the Lunchbox program's goal is to provide inspiration for parents to do just that.
Today, I have made a fun and delicious lunch that is a complete and balanced meal. I started with an EasyLunchBox container and added an Organic Sun Butter & raw honey sandwich.  I dressed the sandwich up using an organic gingersnap cookie, icing eyes, a slice of organic apple for the mouth & provolone cheese for the hair.  I added a hair bow bento pick and a dab of linden berry jam for the cheeks.  The larger of the 2 remaining sections is filled with a variety of organic raw veggies (snap peas, orange & red bell peppers, baby cucumber & yellow squash).  The smallest section is filled with Black Mission figs & halved organic green grapes.  This lunch includes a cup of YoKids Blueberry Yogurt, Annie's Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks for dessert, and a pouch of Honest Kids Organic Fruit Punch to drink.
I also made a snack bento that could either be sent for snack-time at school or saved for an after school treat.  It includes 1/2 a small banana, Annie's Organic Bunny Grahams and a carton of Organic Valley 1% Milk.
Be sure to check out for lots of other lunch ideas and inspiration. You can even submit your own idea for a chance to win a prize pack full of products and coupons from Honest Kids, Annie's Homegrown, Organic Valley & Stonyfield YoKids.

Heading to the water park...

It has been a crazy couple weeks at my house.  I was working on a huge bento-related project last week that I can't wait to share with you all (details soon), and this week my family is taking a much needed staycation.

Yesterday, we headed to a close by water park.  Luckily, this theme park allows you to bring in your own food, so I happily packed up a picnic lunch in our EasyLunchBoxes.
I loved having healthy food available, rather than your typical amusement park fare.  Believe me, riding a bunch of water slides after eating greasy BBQ or pizza is not fun.

I am grateful that this park allows patrons to bring coolers with their own food, and that we have our EasyLunchBoxes, which are perfect for bringing along wherever our adventures take us!

What's in the Box??
Sun Butter & Raw Honey Sandwich (2 halves are stacked)
Yellow Bell Pepper, Cucumber, Black Olives
Celery Sticks, Carrot Sticks, Snap Peas
Strawberries & Blueberries
I also packed water bottles, raw corn on the cob, apples & air-popped popcorn for our snacks during the day.

You Are My Sunshine

It's summer, and with a high temperature of 107 here last weekend, we are feeling it!  While the insane heat from the sun can feel miserable this time of year, my children are delightful rays of sunshine in my life every day.  I made them this lunch as a way of reminding them of just how special they are!

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.  You make me happy, when skies are grey.  You'll never know dear, how much I love you.  Please don't take my sunshine away!
What's in the Box?
Sun - rice colored with turmeric, yellow bell pepper, nori & icing accents
Strawberries, mini grapes, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries
Golden tomatoes, cucumber, black olives, yellow bell pepper
Snap peas, carrots, fresh roasted turkey

EasyLunchBoxes for Toy Storage

Yesterday, my family was getting ready to head out for the day when my kids decided they wanted to take their Lego Minifigures with them in the car.  My daughter has a case for hers, but the little one's collection is just getting started and he doesn't have one yet.

SOLUTION??  EasyLunchBoxes!!  An ELB made a perfect carrying case and storage container for the Legos!  While I'm sure I've lost this one from my kitchen collection, I am thrilled to know that my son's favorite toy is being protected in a sturdy and affordable container.  I have no worries of the EasyLunchBox coming open on its own, and yet, I know he can open it by himself!  It is a perfect size to bring in the car, and fits all of his Minifigures with plenty of room to spare!  In fact, at only $13.95 (including shipping) for a set of 4 EasyLunchBoxes, I may buy an extra set just for travel lego storage.

Lunchbox Love Review & Giveaway

For several months, I had been admiring the adorable little love notes that many of my bento friends placed in their children's lunches.  However, I homeschool my children and we eat lunch together each day, so I didn't really think I needed them. That's when the kind folks at Say Please offered to send me some Lunchbox Love notes to review.  I must say, I ADORE them!!
It is true that these notes are perfect for adding to a child's lunchbox or backpack, but they have so many other uses, too!!  A couple days after receiving my cards, my husband left town for a week-long business trip.  I tucked several of them into his suitcase and overnight bag.  He was so excited when he found each of them and told me how special and loved it made him feel.

I have also left them in his bible, hidden in his laptop, with his vitamins in the medicine cabinet, and with his morning coffee.  I have left them for my children on their chore charts, atop their pillows, in their books and toys, as well as with their lunches. As random acts of kindness, I have left one for a waiter, handed one to a store clerk, and placed one in a bank teller box.  These notes are perfect to show your gratitude, love and kindness to anyone!

The notes are two sided, each with a special message on the front and a fun trivia fact on the back.  There are dozens of different sets available, each containing 12 cards.
With so many options, you are sure to find the perfect sets for everyone you love! They even have a special CAMP edition that would be perfect for summer!  Even better, Say Please has generously offered to give some Lunchbox Love notes to one of my lucky readers!

To enter this giveaway, and keeping with the spirit of Lunchbox Love, leave a comment below telling my readers an interesting piece of trivia.  This will open up additional entry options.  This giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents only. Winner will be randomly chosen on July 9 and will have 48 hours to respond.  If I do not hear back in that time, I will choose an alternate winner.
