A House for Hermit Crab Bento

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIC CARLE!
Eric-Carle
Eric Carle is one of my favorite children's authors, and today is his 84th birthday!  To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to turn one of my favorite of his books into a bento.

In A House for Hermit Crab, Hermit Crab spends his days decorating his new home with the help of lots of new friends.  When he finds his home has become too snug, he is left with the difficult reality of finding a new home for himself, which means saying goodbye to his friends and moving on.

I have always loved this book, but our relocation a year and a half ago really made it personal for me.  We were, after all, facing the sadness of saying goodbye to many loved ones and dear friends to move to a new city and home, just like Hermit Crab

I hope I have honored Eric Carle by making this special lunch today.  His books have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I know I will continue to cherish them throughout my life.
