Pacman Bento and Monbento Review

THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS
I am thrilled to be doing my very first review today!  When I first learned of Monbento, a French bento company, I instantly fell in love with the beauty of their boxes.  I was very excited when they offered to send me one to review.  I have used my new box several times, and it has quickly become one of my favorites.

I was sent an MB Original, which is a large 2-tier box.  Each of the two sections has an airtight lid, is BPA free, and is dishwasher and microwave safe.

The first thing I noticed upon opening my package was the size of the bento box.  It is very large.  Monbento also makes a single tier box, which might be more appropriate for a child or a light eater.  My opinion is that the two combined tiers work well for an adult, to pack a larger meal for an older child, or for two children sharing one box - each using one tier.

The next thing I noticed was the soft touch of the outer box. It is incredibly nice and adds a bit of sophistication to the overall feel and style of the box.  It is certainly fit for an adult!!  The downside to this outer material is that it seems to stain easily.  I haven't had any trouble with the inside of the box, even filling it with tomato-based pasta sauce and turmeric colored rice, but the outside stained very quickly after coming into contact with both turmeric & some coffee that was poured into the sink next to the box.  I would personally not recommend getting a white box.  However, with the customization available through the Monbento site, there are literally hundreds of color combinations available to choose from.

The cost for a 2-tier MB Original is between $30-35.  This is a bit higher than I have paid for any of my other boxes, but it is by far one of the nicest boxes I have seen.  It is incredibly sturdy and made very well.  With the exception of the staining on the lid, I expect this box to far outlast my other boxes, and it is really in a class of its own.
