Peanut Butter Alternative - Elephants

Bento Blog Network's meme this week is "Peanut Butter Alternative".  Because Super Tot is allergic to peanuts, I guess you could say all of our bentos are peanut butter alternatives.  However, this elephant bento has a distinct substitute to a traditional PBJ.

Mermaid Bento

This week's theme at Bento Blog Network is Copycat, which basically means to post any bento or lunch that you produced after being inspired by someone else's creativity.

Back in February, I saw an adorable mermaid bento and knew I wanted to make my own.  I created my version back in April, and it has remained a favorite since that time.
What's in the box?
Mermaid - Butterfly Shrimp, Pasta, Turkey, Carrots, Cheese, Nori & Radish
Lettuce, Avocado, Baby Corn, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Green Beans
More Shrimp, Cheese

Holiday Ho Ho Hop!

Welcome to Bento Bloggers & Friends Holiday Ho Ho Hop! This is the first of 3 weeks of Holiday hops, so be sure to follow along all month!  There will be different participants each week, so you are sure to see lots of variety, creativity and amazing food art!

I have many Christmas theme bentos planned for this month, so deciding on one to make for this blog hop took some thought.  As many of you know, my little Super Tot has severe food allergies to peanuts and several tree nuts.  Finding safe treats can be a bit of a challenge.  Last year, my sister surprised us with a visit at Christmastime (she lives 1/2 way across the country), and she brought along a special gingerbread cookie for Super Tot.  It was in a little tin with the following Allergen Statement on the back: "Made in a peanut and nut free facility."  He loved the cute little cookie and was so excited that it was safe for him to eat.  We were not able to find more of them last year, but last week on a trip to my local grocery store, I FOUND THEM!!!  I purchased several and Super Tot was thrilled.

In honor of our favorite holiday treat - and Super Tot's allergies - I decided to make a Gingerbread Man Bento.
What's in the box??
Gingerbread Men - Panko covered Rice w/ Cheese, Nori, Bell Pepper & Cilantro accents
Lettuce Bed, Broccoli, Tomatoes, Carrots, Bell Pepper, Celery
Cheese "Snow-topped" Trees, Apple Stars, Kohlrabi Snowflakes
Smoked Turkey, Mini Candy Cane
