Bumble Bee Bento

Quail eggs have become one of my favorite bento ingredients.  They are the perfect size and can be made into so many fun things.  I had a few of them that I needed to use up, so I decided to dye them yellow and make them into bumble bees today. I don't have any quail egg nori punches, so that is my next supply to order!

Elephant Bento

We are going to the zoo today, so I wanted to make an animal theme bento.  Elephants are one of Super Tot's favorite animals, so I decided that would be a fun one to try.  The kids loved them, and it really got them even more excited to head to the zoo (if that was possible)!

Starbucks Bento

Each week, Bento Blog Network hosts a themed Bento of the Week challenge.  The theme for the challenge that starts tomorrow is "Alternative Boxes."  I was told that any container that was not intended to be used as a bento or lunch box would qualify as alternative.

I started thinking and decided I would use a paper Starbucks bag as my container.  I cut the bag in half and rolled the sides down, then lined the paper bag with a cut open cellophane bag from Christmas.  As I was brainstorming on what to put in the bento, I recalled one of the first items I ever pinned on Pinterest, which was a Starbucks cup bento.  I thought that would be a perfect item to put in a Starbucks bag container!

Pajeon (Korean Pancakes - one had veggie & one had crab) - under cup

Orangutan Bento

I failed to plan today's bento before beginning to prepare it.  I had lots of delicious Korean foods to include, but no theme.  As I was placing the Crab Pajeon (Korean Pancake) in the bottom of the bento, I immediately saw an orangutan in my mind.  I decided it would be the perfect addition to our lunch!

It's Not Easy Being Green

I was a bit short on time today after arriving back home from an appt., but I wanted to do something fun.  I started off just doing a plain bento, but spotted the green apples at the last minute and decided to make a couple of Kermit the Frogs.  I had seen one on Pinterest awhile back, and while mine is no where as cute, I think it turned out okay.

Welcome to Bentos on the Bayou!

I have had my Princess and the Tot blog for just over a year and a half.  It is primarily an educational homeschool blog with a few crafts thrown in on occasion.  A couple months ago, I started having a weekly Fun Food Friday post to chronicle the healthy bento lunches I prepare for my children each day.

After much thought and debate, I decided to start a separate blog just for my bentos.  After deciding on a name & theme, I collaborated with Diana at Custom Blog Designs to design Bentos on the Bayou!  Diana was amazing to work with and I encourage you to contact her if you want to start a new blog, or just update one you already have.  She was attentive, quick and very professional.  Her customer service is first class, and she is an absolute delight to work with.

I am so thrilled with the finished product, and hope you enjoy it, too!
